ABOUT THE TEAM
We are the 76er's!
The Independence High School Cross Country and Track & Field Program has been around for the past 42 years, producing athletes in the art of running and field sport events. This program is currently run by Khoi Tran, an IHS 2010 Alumni who has been coaching this program since 2011. He is joined by Mary Ann Freitas, Ryan Hen, Manav Walia, and Chien-Kai (Kevin) Wang) in guiding the next generation of IHS athletes.
The program currently competes in the Blossom Valley Athletic League, comprised of twenty four schools within the circuit and three divisions: the Mt. Hamilton Division (MHAL or A League), the Santa Teresa Division (STAL or B League), and the West Valley Division (WVAL or C League).
IHS has a history of creating many quality athletes, earning various division titles, placing in invitationals, and qualifying in the California Interscholastic Federation Central Coast Section (CIF-CCS) and State Championships (CIF-SC).
